The Ebella marks Toyota’s debut in the mid-size electric SUV segment and will rival models such as the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv EV.

Developed alongside the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, the Urban Cruiser Ebella shares its platform and core components with the Suzuki model, but carries Toyota’s own identity.

The front fascia adopts the brand’s global ‘Hammer Head’ styling, featuring a blacked-out upright grille and sharp LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights. The bumper design is also unique, with a wide central intake and slim side vents adding a more aggressive look.

From the side, the two SUVs are nearly identical, though Toyota distinguishes the Ebella with a different design for its 18-inch alloy wheels. Changes at the rear are minimal, with Toyota badging being the main difference.

In terms of size, the Urban Cruiser Ebella measures 4,285 mm in length, around 1,800 mm in width and roughly 1,640 mm in height, supported by a 2,700 mm wheelbase.

The cabin closely resembles the e-Vitara, with a clean, modern dashboard layout and a dual-tone black and tan interior theme. A large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster dominate the dashboard.

Feature highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, a JBL premium sound system, automatic climate control and an in-cabin air purifier.

Connectivity is handled via Toyota’s i-Connect suite with over 100 connected features, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Rear seat practicality is enhanced with a 40:20:40 split-folding configuration.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and a high-strength body structure. The Urban Cruiser Ebella also offers Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts.

Toyota has confirmed two battery options for the Ebella: a 49 kWh LFP unit for the entry-level variant and a larger 61 kWh battery for higher trims. Power output ranges from around 142 bhp on the smaller battery to approximately 172 bhp on the larger one, with both producing 189 Nm of torque. Initially, the electric SUV will be offered with a front-wheel-drive setup, with a claimed maximum driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge.

Although unconfirmed as of now, Toyota may also consider introducing the Urban Cruiser Ebella in the Nepalese market. With Toyota currently lacking an all-electric SUV in Nepal, the arrival of the Ebella could potentially mark the brand’s first step into electrification in the country, depending on market strategy and demand.
